On the weekend of Apr 24- 26, Emmanuel Uniting Church will be gathering for our annual church camp. It’s a two-night church camp at Glengarry Education Centre (owned and operated by Boys’ Brigade Queensland).

Our Camp Theme: Growing in Witness. This camp will continue to push us into our next season of growth. We will be looking at how we engage as and with the community, through times of worship, faith and fun activities. We will prioritize time together in community, giving plenty of opportunity for us to engage with each other in things we normally do as a church – like family games, worship and enjoying the outdoors together.

This will be an intentional time for us to withdraw from our normal routine and spend time with each other, learning and growing together. We will spend time together, seeking to understand how communities grow and what shape this should take, and then doing that—building relationships with each other and enjoying something of God’s good creation. Our camp location will be familiar to many of our Brigades families, (and for those who joined us previously), as we utilize the Boys Brigade site, Camp Glengarry https://bbqld.org.au/glengarry-education-centre/ 

You can choose to stay in a cabin or bring your own tent, camper, or caravan and camp onsite. 

Accommodation costs are set at: 

Adult in their tent, camper, or caravan $25 night

Child (under 18) in own tent, camper, or caravan  $20 per night

Adult in Cabin                              $32 night

Child (under 18) in Cabin                   $27 per night

What about Food?

We will be eating family-style and running the camp as a catered event.

How will the catering work?

We are pulling together a team who will coordinate and prepare the menu. Many hands make light work so if you would like to be a part, please let us know. If committees aren’t your thing, that’s cool, there will be plenty of opportunities to help with prepping, cooking, serving, and cleaning up once we are at camp.

We will also be calling for contributions for morning/afternoon teas and supper. So if you bake a mean banana bread or a banging cheese platter, we would love to hear from you.

I have dietaries, will you cater for me?

We want to include everyone so please let us know what’s in and out for you. Obviously, the more notice we have the better we can accommodate everyone.

Is there a cost for catering?

This effort is going to be pulled together by a group of volunteers. Bearing in mind the cost-of-living pressures and that costs quickly build up if you have 5 family members attending, we think we can deliver this for $25 per adult. If there is any money left in the kitty at the end, it will go towards Sunday morning teas after worship.

My kids don’t eat very much, is there a discount?

Primary school kids will be charged $15 per (small) person. 

I really want to come to Camp but I can’t afford the catering expenses.

Not a problem. We want to welcome everyone. If this is you, please contribute what you can. On the flip side of that, if you can contribute more, then it would be very welcome – every little helps!

I don’t do camping but I want to participate…

You could come and stay in the onsite cabins or just visit for any part of the camp. Saturday will have the most content, but you could come at any time you like during the week. Day visitors can choose to opt in for the group catering for $10 an adult and $5 a child.
